Picture 001        Effective May 31, 2015, the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) welcomed Carole Campbell Swiecicki, Ph.D. to its Board of Directors.  Dr. Swiecicki will serve a three-year term, with the option to be re-elected for a second three-year term in 2018.  As the governing body for the NCA, the Board of Directors assists in guiding the organization towards meeting its mission to promote and support communities in providing a coordinated investigation and comprehensive response to child victims of abuse through Children’s Advocacy Center and Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

Dr. Swiecicki is the Executive Director of The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center (DNLCC) in Charleston, SC–an accredited member of the NCA.  Swiecicki is a clinical psychologist and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Medical University of South Carolina Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.  Her knowledge and experience in the field of child maltreatment intervention and prevention will bring significant added value to the leadership of the NCA, as will her connection to an accredited member of the organization.  “I am excited to join this distinguished group of professionals working to reduce the impact of abuse on children,” Swiecicki remarked.  “This will be an opportunity to share knowledge at a national level and to further improve outcomes for children here in the Lowcountry and beyond.”

Teresa Huizar, Executive Director of the National Children’s Alliance, echoed Dr. Swiecicki’s statements, saying, “After many years of dedication to our organization and the children’s advocacy center network, we are thrilled to welcome Carole to our Board of Directors.  Her knowledge of the work we do, and her direct and current ties to our membership will be extremely valuable as we continue to lead the National Children’s Alliance into the future.”
